Salvation is admitting that we are sinners; turning from our sins and sin nature to Christ; trusting him as our Savior, following him as our Lord and committing our life to him.
–We are all sinners. Romans 3:23 says “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
–The results of our sin is hell. Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death.”
–So God, because of His love for us, sent Jesus to die on the cross to pay the penalty of our sins. Romans 5:8 says “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
–To receive Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins we must not only believe in God, but ask Him to save us from our sins (that makes Him SAVIOR) and then rule and reign in and over our lives (that makes Him LORD). Romans 10:9-10 says: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
–God’s gift to us is saving us if we ask Him to. Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
–When should I be saved? NOW! Right now! You never know when you might die or be killed. And after that, it’s too late to be saved, and you will go to hell forever and ever. Hebrews 3:7 says “Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,” Also, II Corinthians 6:2 says “…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
–Is there anyone else or any other way to be saved? NO. Since God created us, it stands to reason that only God can save us from our sins. And God has chosen Jesus as the way to do this. Acts 4:12 says “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
–Jesus said In Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” In other words, Jesus WILL save you if you let Him into your heart and life.
Will you ask Jesus into your heart today? Just pray a prayer like this in your own words, (and truly mean it), and you will be saved:
Dear God: I realize that I’m a sinner and I can’t save myself. I believe you sent your Son Jesus to die on the cross to take the penalty of my sins. I ask Jesus now to come into my life and save my soul, and guide and direct my life from this point on as my Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
