The word “why” echoes through hospital halls, funeral homes, and tear-stained pillows. It's the cry of the confused, the hurting, and the faithful all at once. Even the strongest saint has whispered it in the midnight hour. The Bible never shames the question, but it often answers it with something greater—trust. Romans 8:28 doesn’t erase pain, but it puts purpose behind it. It doesn’t remove the storm, but it reminds us the Savior is steering the ship.
Paul didn’t say all things feel good, or even look good. He said they work together for good. Like a tapestry woven with threads of joy and sorrow, God is crafting something beautiful out of what feels broken. A widow’s weeping, a child’s suffering, a saint’s lonely valley—none of it is wasted. In the hands of God, even ashes become adornment. Joseph didn’t understand the pit or the prison, but the palace made it all plain.
So when your heart cries “Why?”, lift your eyes and remember Who. The God who spared not His own Son but delivered Him up for us all is working even this for your good and His glory. One day the “why” will be swallowed up in the wonder of His wisdom.
